The climate change is a threat to the entire world population. However, there are countries that are more vulnerable and others that are ready to face the upcoming challenges posed by extreme climate events and global warming. The ND-Gain index, born in 1995 from a project by the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, United States, puts them in order , from the most prepared country (100) to the most exposed (0). The index is based on six risk factors : food, water, health, ecosystem services, human habitat and infrastructure. In the top three are Norway, New Zealand and Sweden. Then Finland and Denmark. The countries most at risk from climate change in the world © The Eco Experts Italy is in 30th place, before Lithuania and after Portugal. A good position because it is together with the group of countries with a low level of vulnerability and a good degree of preparation . Despite this it is a country that will face numerous challenges to adapt to climate change. First of all, the rise in sea levels. At the bottom of the ranking there are only African countries: Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Eritrea. Chad closes the ranking. The countries most at risk, in fact, are the developing countries despite being the least responsible for CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. In addition to the countries of sub-Saharan Africa, the most vulnerable regions are Southeast Asia and Central America.
