The 2008 Mumbai attacks (also referred to as 26/11) were a series of terrorist attacks that took place in November 2008, when 10 members of Lashkar-e-Taiba, an extremist organisation, carried out 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks lasting four days across Mumbai. The attacks, which drew widespread global condemnation, began on Wednesday 26 November and lasted until Saturday 29 November 2008. At least 174 people died, including 9 attackers, and more than 300 were wounded.
The mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and Lashkar-e-Taiba leader Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi has been arrested in Pakistan. According to Pakistani media reports, this arrest has been made in the case of Terror Funding, it is alleged that he used to use the money received in the name of business to spread terror.
Let us know that Lakhvi was declared a terrorist under the UAPA in September 2019 in India. Before amending the UAPA, only organizations could be declared as terrorist organizations. But now it is not so, any person involved in terrorist activities can also be declared a terrorist.
Pakistan has not been punished so far
After the terror attack that took place more than a decade ago, Pakistan has still not been able to punish the mastermind behind the attack, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and his henchmen. There is not enough evidence given.
The case still hangs in the balance due to Pakistan's denial of Indian dossiers and evidence. It is important to look at the facts which are undisputed and have already come out.
Mumbai attack mastermind and LeT operations commander Zaki ur Rahman Lakhvi
Mumbai attack mastermind and Lakshar-e-Taiba (LeT) operations commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi was on Saturday arrested in Pakistan on terror financing charges, an official said.
Lakhvi, who was on bail since 2015 in the Mumbai attack case, was arrested by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
However, the CTD did not mention his place of arrest.
"Following an intelligence-based operation conducted by the CTD Punjab, proscribed organisation LeT leader Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi was arrested on charges of terrorism financing,' it said.
No use if arrested in Pakistan. May be fake or will be released in very less time, if stays in Pak. Must be handed over to India, if arrested.

Pakistan.Pakistan will not hand over to India the people arrested in recent days for the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, including the alleged mastermind of the massacre, and announces that it intends to try them at home instead. The Islamabad Foreign Ministry announced: "These arrests took place as part of our investigation. Even if the allegations (by India) against them are proven, we will not extradite (those arrested) to India, he said. Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said in a speech from Multan. "We will judge those who have been arrested under Pakistani law ourselves," added the Islamabad chief of diplomacy.
About twenty people arrested belong to the Kashmira separatist organization Lakshar-e-Taiba. Among them would be Zakiur Rehman Lahwi, the man who made the phone call to the Islamic terrorists sent to India and triggered the attack that caused 172 deaths.
